Route 15 overhead sign structures go up next week
Work is scheduled for the first half of next week on construction of two new overhead sign structures over Route 15 northbound and southbound, just off Exit 29 of Interstate 180 in Williamsport.
Night work, with a lane restriction in both directions on Route 15 will begin Monday at approximately 7 p.m. and occur nightly through Wednesday. The lane restrictions will give the contractor sufficient room to install the uprights for the sign structures. Intermittent traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes at a time will occur during the nighttime operations.
Daytime work in the median, involving assembly of the trusses and electrical work, is expected to have minimal impacts on traffic.
By Wednesday night, the contractor, HRI, Inc. will remove the old sign structures.
Motorists are advised to be alert to these short-term traffic restrictions on the Route 15 spur early next week.
The work is part of the two-year, $7 million contract that was essentially completed late last year.
