The 4-H Program of Potter County will hold its annual Super Saturday Event

Super Saturday March 3th Registration Due By March 2nd

The 4-H Program of Potter County will hold its annual Super Saturday Event this Saturday, March 3 at the Coudersport Alliance Church. Super Saturday is open to all current 4-H members, families, leaders, and anyone who is interested in learning more about the 4-H program.

The following learning workshops will be offered from 10 am to 1pm.

Track One Track Two

10AM-11AM Good Production Practices for Small Animals Manure Management Plan for All Farms
11AM- Noon GPP for Livestock, Dairy Rabbit 101
Noon-1PM GPP for Horse Preparing Your Club for Block & Bridle Judging at PSU
GPP: Good Production Practices

All 4-H horse, livestock, dairy and small animal members must take the Good Production Practice (GPP) training each year by July 1 to be eligible to show or sell a 4-H project. This is a state rule. Join us to review good ethical handling and feed management for all your animals – 4-H projects and others.

Manure Management Plan

Carol Riedmiller, Resource Conservationist for the McKean County Conservation District, will be presenting information on the new regulations on Manure Management. The revised DEP Manure Management Manual released in October 2011 requires every farm in Pennsylvania that produces or applies manure to develop and implement a written Manure Management Plan (MMP). In the past emphasis was on larger operations with the new regulations smaller operations are now included. Topics will include the revised Manure Management Manual, Chapter 102 (Erosion and Sediment Control) updates, and using PAOneStop for your Manure Management Plan.

Rabbit 101

Are you interested in the 4-H rabbit project but didn’t know where to begin? Join us for an introductory session on rabbits, selecting your animal, rabbit breeds, and tips for showing.

Preparing for Block & Bridle

Our ongoing goal is to have each 4-H club participate in at least one out-of-county activity per year. The more involved you are in 4-H, the more fun you will have. Going to Penn State for the annual Block & Bridle judging event is one of those fun and educational opportunities. Learn how to prepare and what you can learn by attending the Block & Bridle events.

Please contact the Extension Office to register by either calling 274-8540 or emailing srg22@psu.edu. Registrations are due by Friday, March 2nd.
