Lynton E. Turner, 84, of Route 155 N,, Port Allegany, PA


PORT ALLEGANY, PA - Lynton E. Turner, 84, of Route 155 N, passed away Monday (Feb. 27, 2012) in the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.

Born August 11, 1927, in Turtlepoint, he was a son of Elmer T. and Gertrude F. Hults Turner. On May 12, 1944, in Lockport, NY, he married Edna I. Haskins, who survives.

Mr. Turner had worked for the former A & P Grocery Store, and 38 years with Ball-InCon Co. (now Verallia) of Port Allegany, as superintendant of the cold end, retiring in April 1988.

He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the US Navy.

He was a member of the VFW, Post 6391, and Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 460, both of Port Allegany, and former member of the Canoe Place Fish & Game Club, Port Allegany.

Surviving in addition to his wife Edna, are a son Gary L. (Kim) Turner of Port Allegany; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard J. Turner of Clearwater, FL; several nieces and nephews; a special son-in-law, Dale Parry of Aiken, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Robert G. Turner and Dale R. Turner, a daughter, Donna M. Parry, and a brother, H. Clayton Turner.

There will be a private visitation and funeral service held at the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, with Rev. Michael Culver, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.

Memorials can be made to the McKean County SPCA, Bradford; or a charity of the donor's choice.
