Photo submittedByron Sutton Jr., Director of Potter County’s Veterans Affairs department gave a presentation on how he helps veterans acquire assistance from the Veterans Administration at a recent meeting of the Coudersport Rotary Club.
Sutton, who is a combat veteran himself, having served in the first Gulf War, took over the department in September 2010 helps veterans fill out forms for medical care, for veterans who become ill during or beyond their time of service in the military. Sutton also spoke of how, sometimes, those benefits can extend to spouses, children and grandchildren.
The position carries a certain amount of sentiment for Sutton, who served in the military and understands each and every circumstance each veteran entering his office is experiencing.
Sutton’s office is open primarily on Mondays and Tuesday for walk-ins from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays are by appointment only.
