Route 187 temporary bridge opens to traffic tomorrow afternoon

A temporary bridge on Route 187 in Windham Township, Bradford County will open to traffic tomorrow afternoon, Feb. 28.

This two-span, one-lane temporary bridge and roadway will carry Route 187 over Wappasening Creek near the New York state line. Traffic will be controlled with temporary traffic signals.

Once the temporary bridge is opened, the detour will be lifted.

The previous bridge at this location was destroyed during last September’s flooding from Tropical Storm Lee.

A contract to design and build a permanent bridge at this location will be bid later this spring, with construction to be completed by the fall of 2013.
