PITT-BRADFORD TO OFFER ANONYMOUS SCREENING FOR EATING DISORDERS
BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will offer eating disorder screenings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
The screening, which consists of a brief, anonymous questionnaire designed to provide students with insight into symptoms they might be experiencing, will be offered in the Mukaiyama University Room in the Frame-Westerberg Commons.
The questionnaires also offer helpful treatment and referral information, if necessary.
“Regular dieting does not always lead to an eating disorder, but 10 percent of dieters do progress to partial or full eating disorders,” says Dr. Leslie Rhinehart, director of counseling services.
“As many as 10 million females and 1 million males in the United States are struggling with an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia, and the majority of those are struggling because they are not receiving treatment. The screenings available help direct students to the appropriate care they need.”
