Lawrenceville, Pa. — A company is planning to build a treatment plant on the Tioga River in Lawrenceville to recycle wastewater from shale gas drilling.

A public hearing on the project, held by the Lawrenceville Borough Council, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lawrenceville Fire Department, located at 7 Mechanic St.

The company proposing the facility is TerrAqua Resource Management, a joint venture between Larson Design Group, a Williamsport-based design and engineering firm, and Newalta, a Canadian firm that provides waste processing to the oil and gas industry.

The Lawrenceville facility would be located on River Road, according to Marty Muggleton, vice president of TerrAqua Resource Management.

Land use plans are currently under review by borough officials. The project also needs approval from several state agencies. More...
