DEP Announces March 22 Public Meeting, Hearing on Bradford County Compressor Station’s Air Quality Plan Approval

DEP Announces March 22 Public Meeting, Hearing on Bradford County Compressor Station’s Air Quality Plan Approval

The Department of Environmental Protection will hold a public meeting and hearing on Thursday, March 22, to discuss a proposed Air Quality plan approval for Angelina Gathering Co. for expansion of its Greenzweig Compressor Station in Herrick Township, Bradford County.

The 6:30 p.m. meeting will be at the Herrick Township Volunteer Fire Co. on Herrickville Road in Wyalusing, Bradford County.

“Staff from DEP’s Air Quality program will explain the application review process and applicable regulations, and company officials will review the proposed project with the audience,” DEP North-central Regional Director Nels Taber said. “These presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer session, so that DEP and the company can hear about residents’ concerns and provide needed information.”

Angelina Gathering submitted the Air Quality plan approval application to DEP on April 21, 2011. The plan would include adding a fifth natural gas-fired engine to four previously approved engines in order to provide additional power for transporting gas to a network of pipelines. The plan would also include controls for the new engine.

DEP published a notice of intent to issue the plan approval in the Pennsylvania Bulletin on Nov. 5, 2011, and asked for public comment. A significant number of citizens requested that the agency hold a public meeting or hearing.

During the 8 p.m. public hearing, the public will have an opportunity to present up to five minutes of oral testimony about the application. Written testimony of any length will also be accepted. The testimony will be recorded by a court reporter and transcribed into a written document, and DEP will create a written response to all relevant testimony provided during the public hearing.

Those who wish to present oral testimony may register that evening prior to the hearing.

For anyone unable to attend the public hearing, written comment should be submitted by the close of business on April 2 to DEP Air Quality Program Manager, 208 West Third St., Ste. 101, Williamsport, PA 17701.
