Clair R. Baker, 87, of the Green Home, Wellsboro, Pa., formerly of Westfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. He was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Westfield, Pa., the son of Clair and Jesse Knight Baker Sr. Clair was a veteran of World War II, serving his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from Consolidated Natural Gas after many years of service. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Westfield. Clair was a fan of the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills and loved the game of pinochle.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pearl; sons, Matthew (Brenda) Baker, Wellsboro, Clair (Doris) Baker, Bantam, Conn., and Brick Baker, Gainesville, Fla. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Baker; his sisters, Nellie Easton, Jessie Aldrich, Doris McMindes and Mildred VanDusen; and brothers, Harold Baker and Bert Baker.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro, with a memorial service immediately following at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Jeff McCleary officiating. Interment will be held in the Champlin Cemetery, Westfield, Pa., with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westfield United Methodist Church, 158 Church St., Westfield, PA 16950.
