The Teardrop Explodes - Colours Fly Away

On this date in 1981, The Teardrop Explodes released their eighth single, "Colours Fly Away". It was backed by "Window Shopping For A Crown Of Thorns". The A side appeared on their second album, Wilder. The B side was a non-LP track but was added as a bonus track when the album was re-released on CD. The single reached the #54 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Liverpool, England post punk band disbanded in 1982 after two albums. Lead singer Julian Cope went on to become a successful solo artist. Keyboardist Paul Simpson formed The Wild Swans.
