On this date in 1979, Slaughter and The Dogs released their fifth single, "You're Ready Now". It was backed by "Runaway". Neither track appeared on an album. The Manchester, England punk band made their post-breakup debut with this single and it was a much softer sound than they had before they disbanded in 1978. At one time, the band began rehearsing with a pre-Smiths Steven Morrissey as replacement for lead singer Wayne Barrett after he left the band. The band would break up and re-form several times over the years. They are currently together and performing live which seems to be an on again, off again thing.
