The Pretenders - Day After Day and Louie Louie

On this date in 1981, The Pretenders released their eighth and ninth singles. In The U.S., they released "Louie Louie". In the U.K., they released "Day After Day". Both tracks appeared on their second full-length album, Pretenders II. The B side of both was a non-LP instrumental called "In The Sticks". "Day After Day" reached the #45 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The London punk/new wave band, fronted by Ohio-raised Chrissie Hynde, is still in existence.
