greeen door

I am in the process of painting my front door green...I am loving it so far. It is Martha Stewart Sea Grass green paint. I have about 2 more coats to go, a kick plate (courtesy of my mom) and a fun Fall wreath and then I am done. (and on to my next project). Below are some other green doors I love. *TIP* I made the mistake of buying an eggshell finish, it doesn't have the nice gloss look. I will probably end up going back to get the same color in a gloss for a final coat ($10 wasted). SO buy glossy.

new meets old

I think it would be so fun to mix these bright colored pillows from Horchow with the traditional chairs below.
These chairs do have a little frill to them, but that's one of the things I love about them.

Henry has a bad cold and I feel horrible for the poor little guy...as soon as he gets better he gets sick again. Maybe it's allergies, who knows. So I need a little somethin' to brighten my day...hence the bright pillows. Wish bright flowery pillows could brighten his day as well. :(

pink & green rooms

While talking to some friends of mine yesterday I explained that I often feel uncomfortable sharing experiences I have had during my 'growing-up' years of High School and college, especially in groups of people or with people who I don't know very well. Because during these 'growing-up' years I often lived outside of the country. So when I tell a story and it takes place in Paris, Luxembourg, Grand Caymans, Philippines or some where else, I sound pretentious or "ooo, look at me"...but really I just want to tell the story and the place I lived in plays a part in that story...so here I go again, and tell another one of those stories...

While attending BYU Jersusalem I was able to visit Egypt. While there I fell in love with mosaics. I had decided that I was going to have a mosaic room in my house. A room totally dedicated to all things mosaic, and I was going to create all the mosaics myself...in my mind it was exquisite.

Then the horrible thought occured to me, how many rooms do I need in my house? Because, while living in Europe I fell in love with stain glass windows and decided I needed to learn how to make stain glass....and have a room in my house dedicated to stain glass...

Well, here I am again (I often find myself in this place). I want a pink and green room. White walls, crisp white furniture and pops of bright pink and green throughout the room.

So my hot pink & green room will be located between my mosaic and stain glass rooms in the house in my head.

I think the above 4 pictures are pure inspiration...they give me the food my brain needs to sit back for a bit and daydream. What would I do without my daydreams?

cute kid rooms

I looked at real estate here in Utah daily ever since Steve and I got married, I still find myself looking at it from time to time even though we own a house, just for fun...???? A little strange I know. But I bet I could tell you Utah's real estate market trends for the last 7 years, that's how often I looked at it.

Anyhow, I always look at houses for sale in our area and found this darling house West of us. I don't know who this girl is but I am tempted to knock on her door and introduce myself. Her house is darling! Here are 2 of the rooms in her house. I just love them. And the pink/red combination above is darling.

So I guess I am a real estate market stalker??? That sounds a lot creepier than it is, I hope. ;)

Pretty things

The other night when I spent forever on etsy looking at people's wonderful knit-creations, I also came across this shop called The Silver Dog that I am totally smitten with. Once I shed this darn baby weight I am celebrating by getting a necklace from here. They aren't too pricey and would add a touch of glamour to even a basic t-shirt. (I also imagine wearing it with skinny jeans and flats)

I am the creator of the scarf-colar...j/k...kind of

As I was browsing etsy for some cute ideas for St. Patty's day I came across soooo many amazing handmade items. Above are just a few. I think I sat for at least 45 minutes in the knitting section of etsy and decided I need to start knitting again.

When I first married Steve in 2002 I asked his mom to teach me to knit. I began knitting like a crazy lady. I went from scarfs, to hats and then I discovered felting and thought I had died and gone to heaven. I think I felted a purse for every girl member of my family the Christmas of 2003.
Then in the following Winter of 2004 I thought I had this brilliant idea. Instead of knitting a whole scarf, just knit the top and add a button, so it was like a little sweater for your kneck, I made one for my mom, sister, Christie and myself. Much to my surprise I wasn't the only one with that idea. On etsy there is a plethora of people making these things calling them scarflette's, scarf-colar, knitted-neck warmer etc...hey, but i made them 7 years ago!!! ;)

Anyhow, time to dig up my wonderful wood knitting needles I bought at The Black Sheep Wool Co. here in SLC (when it was located in Sugarhouse) 7 years ago, my yarn, and I think I may just have to start knitting again. (now that it's Spring) Ha!

my chairs are done!

Here are my chairs!!! Thank you mom! I just love them, they are so sturdy and this morning the kids had jellied doughnuts and chocolate milk on this table and guess what? It wiped clean, no hassle at all...I want to plant a big wet kiss on whoever invented shellac.

It's coming together, slow and steady. (ignore the mess in the corner) :)

I have an extremely talented Mother-in-law when it comes to sewing. For Madeline's B-day she made her the cutest monkey from vintage fabric. She got the pattern from these wonderfully creative Australian Women at Melly & Me. They have created these delightful designs for homemade stuffed animals.

This last weekend while in Idaho my mother-in-law took me to a darling fabric store and gave me 3 of her patterns for the Melly & Me monkey, elephant and fish. I am so excited to make them for Max, Madi and baby bean.

Party Planning

I am beginning real plans for Mimi's birthday party. It will be a wonderful surprise for those of you can't join (rozzie). :) I am thrilled!!!! I will say it will be hosted by me at my parents Lavender farm...how could it not be fun and have a million and one kodak moments!

I got these ideas originally from a friend of mine, Liz's blog and she got the idea from inchmark.

So I don't know if I am nesting or what, but I have this strong desire to redecorate every room in my house. I took my kids to Ikea the other day so they could play and I could window shop. I found this wonderful king duvet set that I love. It actually looks way better in person, the green is just so vibrant and earthy...although I wouldn't consider myself an earthy person. I guess a better word for it would be "clean colors". ;)
