The Pottery Barn Couch

I love nothing more than a comfortable couch, a couch that looks like you could fall asleep reading a good book on it. We have some big couches (my husband is a tall guy) but they have more of a Bavarian French look with wood and brown fabric. The below couches are much different than the ones I have, but one day I want a bright room to put one (any one) of the couches below in.

These couches look so comfy and the pops of color through fabric, plants, pictures and the occasional wall color are very appealing.

The room above looks like a place you could just sit and read a good book. Below is a little more formal but still beautiful.

I love the hanging lanterns, painted wall paneling along with the natural wood and subtle blue color below. Very pretty.

I am sucker for the pretty light blue and coral combination below.

I love the bold oranges above and below.

The wall color below with the red and bright white looks so crisp and clean.

new color obsession!

I have fallen IN LOVE with this color combination. Orange & Turquoise...perfection!

I found this via House of Turquoise, one of my most favorite decorating blogs. I think this gal has impeccable taste.

Thought of the day, something I have been thinking a lot about. Failure. My husband always tells me this when I get down or feel like we'll never get to where we want to be. He always tells me that the meaning of failure is giving up or remaining stagnant. As long as you are constantly working towards what you want you'll never fail. He's right. But sometimes it's hard to feel that way, especially when your life is pretty much not what you ever expected.

...but that is when I need to adjust my expectations and be grateful for ALL the wonderful things I do have.

new meets old

I think it would be so fun to mix these bright colored pillows from Horchow with the traditional chairs below.
These chairs do have a little frill to them, but that's one of the things I love about them.

Henry has a bad cold and I feel horrible for the poor little guy...as soon as he gets better he gets sick again. Maybe it's allergies, who knows. So I need a little somethin' to brighten my day...hence the bright pillows. Wish bright flowery pillows could brighten his day as well. :(

cute kid rooms

I looked at real estate here in Utah daily ever since Steve and I got married, I still find myself looking at it from time to time even though we own a house, just for fun...???? A little strange I know. But I bet I could tell you Utah's real estate market trends for the last 7 years, that's how often I looked at it.

Anyhow, I always look at houses for sale in our area and found this darling house West of us. I don't know who this girl is but I am tempted to knock on her door and introduce myself. Her house is darling! Here are 2 of the rooms in her house. I just love them. And the pink/red combination above is darling.

So I guess I am a real estate market stalker??? That sounds a lot creepier than it is, I hope. ;)

what a smart aleck...

My husband lovingly mocked me today when I told him happily that I am figuring out my style...he looked at me in all seriousness and said,

"Oh, thanK gooDness. I have been waiting soooo long for you to figure out your style...few..."

Ha! What a smart aleck. I love that he puts it all in perspective for me. Really at the end of the day it isn't that big of a deal if I've found my style or not. (but between you and me, I am still happy about it).

Above are fabrics and wallpaper from pierre-deux. Okay, I cannot be the only one who thinks that blue and yellow wallpaper is gorgeous?

Pretty things

The other night when I spent forever on etsy looking at people's wonderful knit-creations, I also came across this shop called The Silver Dog that I am totally smitten with. Once I shed this darn baby weight I am celebrating by getting a necklace from here. They aren't too pricey and would add a touch of glamour to even a basic t-shirt. (I also imagine wearing it with skinny jeans and flats)

Graphic Fairy does it again...

So this weekend has pretty much been a bummer. Madeline, Henry and now ME has caught Max's cough (although it isn't a "croupy" cough) but it is still very annoying and keeps us all from sleeping.

It is still cold outside, although the sun did shine a little. So you can imagine my joy when I looked at Graphic Fairy's blog and saw this absolutely beautiful, free printable graphic. It really brightened my weekend just looking at it.

If you'd like to download it go here. I know I will download it, now if only I could put it on a pillow or shirt or something. I'm sure they make some gizmo to do that with somewhere.

Christmas Eve gift

This is a picture of one of four necklaces I made for my mom, sister and sister-in-law and gave to them on Christmas Eve. I made Christie one that is amber colored and gold, which I fell in love with but they only had one strand of the amber left and I thought it would look best with Christie's coloring (and it did!) I made the rest of ours this sort of iridescent green and silver color. I can't wait to wear it with something fun.

simplicity

I love the necklaces from the Sundance catalog. I always make necklaces for gifts and forget how pretty simple can be....if I have time before the 24th, my mom, sister and sister-in-law will get something like this for Christmas. Time being the optimal word.

so in love

This is a thank you post.
Thank you Caitlin for introducing me to this wonderful store, lotus bleu located in San Fransisco, which makes me think of my early years growing up there as well as my friend Liz who now lives there - (and who by the way is quite a stylish gal herself).

I love this room, just love it...no adore it. I have once again fallen in love with color. So thank you lotus-bleu, Caitlin and everyone else who makes this world more beautiful and pleasant to be in.

A shower for Henry

My sis-in-law, Christie threw me a family BBQ baby shower for Henry. Thad and Rozlynn were in town so it was extra fun. The food was delicious, of course. My parents came down from Logan and my mother-in-law came down from Idaho. Thanks Q & C!!! xoxox

vinyl wall art

I have never been one for the whole Cricket trend and vowed to myself I would never have vinyl writing on my walls anywhere in my house, no offense to anyone that has them they are just not my thing. But I found this adorable website that has some vinyl wall stuff that I actually think is quite cute. These are from an adorable store called fawn&forest.

Party Planning

I am beginning real plans for Mimi's birthday party. It will be a wonderful surprise for those of you can't join (rozzie). :) I am thrilled!!!! I will say it will be hosted by me at my parents Lavender farm...how could it not be fun and have a million and one kodak moments!

I got these ideas originally from a friend of mine, Liz's blog and she got the idea from inchmark.

As I continue to peruse the tiny*prints website, I keep finding the cutest announcements. They are a little pricey but maybe I can start saving now. Ha! They're actually not too bad.

Turquoise & Coral

Here is yet another necklace and bracelet! I actually love these colors together. I think red is one of the best accent colors. It adds a bit of richness and class. Ha! Just my opinion...which is worth about 2 cents. ;)
