Itty Bitty Picture Instructions

One of the most common questions I get is "How do I print pictures in the perfect size for my project?".   There are so many programs you can use to customize your photo size, I wanted to share instructions that would be universal for all computer users. Here are the step by step instructions for printing your desired images in any size:

For PC Users in Microsoft Office:
1. Open a new document in Microsoft Word.
2. On the menu bar, select Insert->Image->From File (a window will open and allow you to select the image you are looking for).
3. Choose the desired image(s) and insert into the file.
4. Once the image has been added to your file, you can crop it using the picture tools. (Make sure that the picture toolbar is displayed.  To do this, in the menu bar, select View->Toolbars->Picture should be checked. A small bar will pop up with a number of picture editing tools)
5. Click the picture and crop it as desired. The crop tool looks like two overlapped corners.  Once you select the crop tool, you can click on any of the borders and drag them inward, cropping the image as desired.
6. After your image is cropped, right click on the image and select Format Object. A window will pop up, select Size. Make sure that the "Lock Aspect Ratio" Box is checked. Enter in the desired height or width of the image. *Note* When you enter either the height or width, the other measurement will be filled in automatically with respect to cropping you did.
7. Your image will now be cropped and sized as desired.  You can continue to add images to the document until you have all your images sized.
8. Print the image on photo paper from your home printer and cut out individual images.

For Mac Users in Pages
1. Open a new blank page document in Pages.
2. On the menu bar, select Insert->Choose(a window will open and allow you to select the image you are looking for).
3. Choose the desired image(s) and insert into the file.
4. Once the image has been added to your file, you can crop it using the Mask tool (Format->Mask). Once a mask is selected, you can drag the edges as desired on the photo to crop the image.
5. After your image is cropped, click on the image and the inspector tool will appear.  If the tool doesn't appear, in the menu bar go to View->Show Inspector. In the inspector window, click on the little yellow ruler.  Make sure that "Constrain Properties" is checked. You can then enter in the desired height or width of the image.
