The Ejected - Have You Got 10P?

On this date in 1982, The Ejected released their debut single, "Have You Got 10P?". It was backed by "Class Of '82" and "One Of The Boys". The first two tracks appeared on their debut album, A Touch Of Class, but they were different cuts. The third track did not. All three "single" tracks were included as bonuses when the album was re-released on CD. The single reached the #8 spot on the U.K. indie singles chart. The Dagenham, England Oi! band released two albums before disbanding in 1984.

Pete Shelley - Homosapien

On this date in 1981, Pete Shelley released his first post-Buzzcocks single, "Homosapien". It was backed by "Keat's Song". Both tracks appeared on his debut post-Buzzcocks U.K. album, Homosapien. The B side did not appear on the U.S version of the album. Shelley did have a solo album while still a member of Buzzcocks. It was experimental and was called Sky Yen. The single did not chart, helped in great part by a BBC ban on the song because of its underlying reference to homosexuality. By the late '80's, Shelley had re-formed the classic lineup of The Buzzcocks for some touring and, soon after, a new Buzzcocks was created with Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle forming the core. They still record and perform today.

The Replacements - Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash

On this date in 1981, The Replacements released their debut album, Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash. It contained the single, "I'm In Trouble". The Minneapolis, Minnesota contemporaries of The Suburbs and Husker Du were pure punk at this early stage of their career.

Talking Heads - Fear Of Music

On this date in 1979, Talking Heads released their third album, Fear Of Music. The album contained three singles, "Cities", "Life During Wartime" and "I Zimbra". Only "Life During Wartime" charted (#80 U.S.). The album, itself, did better. It reached the #21 spot on the U.S. albums chart and the #33 spot on the U.K. albums chart. The New York City new wave band, regulars at CBGB's, disbanded in 1992. Frontman David Byrne was never interested in a reunion.

The Zeros - Don't Push Me Around

On this date in 1977, The Zeros released their debut single, "Don't Push Me Around". It was backed by "Wimp". There were no albums from the band while intact but a compilation released afterwards, Don't Push Me Around, has both of these tracks. This was the Chula Vista, California punk band. There was also a U.K. punk band called The Zeros. The U.S. band disbanded in 1980 but has reunited occasionally since.

DMZ - Lift Up Your Hood

On this date in 1977, DMZ released their first offering on vinyl, an EP called Lift Up Your Hood. It contained the title track plus "Busy Man", "You're Gonna Miss Me" and "When I Get Off". They had only one other release, a self-titled debut album, before disbanding in 1979. A compilation of their material, Relics, was released in 1979 after the band had disbanded and included all four tracks from this debut EP. The Boston, Massachusetts punk band had David Robinson (Cars, The Modern Lovers) as their drummer before any recordings were made. Jeff Conolly, Rick Coraccio and Paul Murphy went on to form Lyres.
